At Mistral AI, we believe the future of artificial intelligence is open, collaborative, and built for everyone. Today, we’re proud to announce our participation as a founding member in the [NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition](https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-launches-nemotron-coalition-of-leading-global-ai-labs-to-advance-open-frontier-models), a groundbreaking global initiative uniting leading AI labs to advance open, frontier-level foundation models. As part of this strategic partnership, Mistral AI and NVIDIA plan to co-develop frontier open-source AI models, combining Mistral AI’s specialized model architecture and full-stack AI platform with NVIDIA’s compute resources, model-development tools, and synthetic-data generation pipelines. As a founding member of the NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition, Mistral AI will contribute its proprietary training techniques, multimodal capabilities, and enterprise-grade fine-tuning tools—while leveraging NVIDIA’s compute, tools & technologies to scale training and optimization. This builds off prior scientific collaborations together with NVIDIA, including the development of the [Mistral Nemo](https://mistral.ai/news/mistral-nemo) model.

## Why open collaboration matters

Open models are the cornerstone of democratized AI. As part of this commitment, today Mistral AI is releasing [Mistral Small 4](https://mistral.ai/news/mistral-small-4) to empower developers, researchers, and organizations worldwide to build, specialize, and innovate without barriers (read more [here](https://mistral.ai/news/mistral-small-4)).

By joining the NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition, we’re taking another major step toward shaping a future where AI is transparent, accessible, and tailored to diverse needs.

The coalition’s first initiative is a base model, trained on NVIDIA DGX Cloud, which will underpin the upcoming NVIDIA Nemotron 4 family. These models will be open-sourced, providing a shared foundation for post-training and specialization. For Mistral AI, this aligns perfectly with our mission: to put AI in everyone’s hands.
